2010 REAL HEROES

 

AWARD CRITERIA

AN EVENT CELEBRATING SELFLESS ACTS OF COURAGE AND HUMANITARIAN SERVICES BY REAL PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY

Youth Hero

This award pays tribute to a person, high school age or younger, who has stepped forward in a time of crisis to help another person, or has worked toward the betterment of our community by taking action to help improve someone’s quality of life, helped someone avoid a crisis, or performed a lifesaving action serving as an example for other youth.

 

Female Good Samaritan Hero

This award is presented to an individual who has acted to help another in a time of emergency through their actions. Individuals nominated in this category may have used lifesaving skills such as CPR, water rescue or first aid to assist someone in crisis, or they reached out to help another person, providing a safe and secure environment to ensure the person’s well-being.

 

Male Good Samaritan Hero

This award is presented to an individual who has acted to help another in a time of emergency through their actions. Individuals nominated in this category may have used lifesaving skills such as CPR, water rescue or first aid to assist someone in crisis, or they reached out to help another person, providing a safe and secure environment to ensure the person’s well-being.  

 

Law Enforcement Hero

This award recognizes a law enforcement professional who has demonstrated an outstanding level of service to the people of their community. This nominee could be on or off-duty at the time of the incident.

Fire Rescue Hero

This award honors a person who has demonstrated an outstanding level of service to the people of their community. This nominee could be on or off-duty at the time of the incident.

Community Partner Hero

Presented to a community group, neighborhood, organization or local company that consistently demonstrates a commitment to making a difference in the community.

Health Care Hero

 

Nurses, doctors, physician’s assistants and others working in the healthcare field are among those eligible for this award. This award honors a person who has demonstrated an outstanding level of service to the people of their community. This nominee could be on or off-duty at the time of the incident.

Military Hero

Presented to a member of the armed forces (active, retired, commissioned or non-commissioned) whose life saving action goes above and beyond the call of duty.

Animal Rescue Hero 

Presented to an animal that has used trained or innate skills to help save lives.

Spirit of the American Red Cross

 

Presented for outstanding humanitarian contributions promoting the mission of the Red Cross in our community.
