Adult CPR/AED, Child, and Infant CPR with First Aid approximately 8 hours This comprehensive course includes: Adult, child, and infant CPR, rescue breathing, choking rescue, and first aid skills including treatment of burns, fractures, sprains, seizures, bleeding control, sudden illness, injuries, poisoning, heat and cold emergencies. Certificates upon successful completion: Adult, Child and Infant CPR (valid for 1 year) First Aid (valid for 3 years)
Community CPR/AED (Adult, Child and Infant CPR with AED): approximately 6 hours This course prepares you to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies for adults, children, and infants as well as heart disease prevention. Certificate upon successful completion: Adult, Child and Infant CPR (valid for 1 year)
Adult CPR/AED: approximately 3.5 hours This course prepares you to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies for adults, as well as heart disease prevention. Certificate upon successful completion: Adult CPR/AED (valid for 1 year)
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer: approximately 7 hours (equivalent to Basic Life Support or BLS) Recommended for individuals with a professional duty to respond to emergencies. Participants will review basic CPR skills and learn two-rescuer CPR along with AED, advanced airway management, use of resuscitation mask, how to handle special resuscitation and the community approach to reducing injury and deaths. Certificate upon successful completion: CPR for the Professional Rescuer (valid for 2 years)
Workplace Training: First Aid: approximately 3 hours This course provides individuals in the workplace the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic first aid care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advance medical personnel arrives. This course does not include information on breathing or cardiac emergencies. Certificate upon successful completion: Workplace Training: First Aid (valid for 3 years)
Workplace Training: Standard First Aid with or without Automated External Defibrillator (AED): approximately 6 hours This course provides individuals in the workplace the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care including adult CPR, rescue breathing, choking, injuries, sudden illnesses, and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest until advanced medical personnel arrives. Certificates upon successful completion: Workplace Training: Standard First Aid (valid for 3 years) Workplace Training: Adult CPR/AED (valid for 1 year)
California Child Care Health & Safety Training: approximately 7 hours (15 hours total training for Child Care Licensing) The California Childcare Course was designed to meet state EMSA approval and requirements for child care workers. The prerequisite is current Infant & Child CPR and First Aid certification. You must bring those certificates with you on the day of class. This course includes: +Preventing Childhood Injuries +Preventing Infectious Diseases +Caring for Ill Children
Lifeguard Training: approximately 28 hours This course teaches potential lifeguards skills and knowledge to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Training includes First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (equivalent to Basic Life Support or BLS). PREREQUISITES: + 15 years of age + swim 500 yards continuously using crawl, breast and sidestroke for 100 yards each, stroke of your choice 200 yards + Surface dive to a minimum of 7 feet and retrieve a 10 pound brick + Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only.
CERTIFICATION: Pass 2 written exams with at least 80% accuracy, demonstrate competency in all critical skills, and successfully complete two final skill scenarios. Certificates upon successful completion: CPR for the Professional Rescuer (valid for 1 year) First Aid (valid for 3 years) Lifeguarding (valid for 3 years)
Babysitter's Training: approximately 8 hours The purpose of the Babysitter's Training Course is to provide youths, ages 11-15, with the information and skill necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or guardians. The course teaches youth skills in six critical areas: + First Aid + Emergency Response + Professionalism + Leadership + Safety & Safe Play + Basic Child Care
Fundamentals of Instructor Training: approximately 4 hours This Course is a prerequisite for all instructor courses offered by the Red Cross.
First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Course: approximately 16 hours PREREQUISITE: Participants must show proficiency in CPR/AED and first aid, both with a skills test and written test; there is no review prior to testing so it is strongly recommended that instructor candidates complete basic-level CPR and First Aid. This course trains instructor candidates how to teach both the community and workplace-oriented CPR, First Aid, and AED programs.
Water Safety Instructor (WSI): approximately 40 hours This course trains instructor candidates to teach the Infant and Preschool Aquatics Program; the seven levels of the "Learn to Swim Program"; Basic Water Rescue; Community Water Safety; Water Safety Instructor Aide Courses; and, for eligible individuals, the Safety training for Swim Coaches course. PREREQUISITES: Must be at least 17 years of age, current Instructor Candidate Training (ICT) or Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) certificate, good (level 6) swimming skills and pass a pretest consisting of written knowledge and water skills found in the Community Water Safety course.
